  • Unable To Update AMD GPU Driver

Can anyone tell me or want to speculate on why installing graphics card driver updates is so <gs id="0f767f4e-85a4-4a03-ac76-b865204d53b8" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="f5545a6b-1865-429b-be8e-e878464f30d2" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark">retardedly</gs>, stupidly hard to do. I swear I'm almost sure I've NEVER installed graphics card updates without having to research why it's not just installing for at least 2 to 3 hours or just finally giving up. I mean I've been using computers since the beginning you know the IBM compatibles. I had one of the first Pentium 60's remember the ones with the flaw in it. And I have a lot of skill with computers. Hardware, Software and Internet technologies and yet...

We don't have DMA conflicts or IRQ conflicts anymore, any other piece of software or drivers you want to update you just say update or download the new drivers or version and it just installs. Just like that. And then there's GPU drivers and software... I'm not even going to get into it.

And I'm not talking entry level hardware here either. I don't buy top of the line GPUs simply because they would be completely wasted on me since I don't play ANY games and I don't use them for anything but running lots of screens which really doesn't take a lot of processing power just lots of connectors. But I buy reasonably powerful GPUs just because it just wouldn't be right to put entry level GPUs in my LOADED machines.

I am however interested in updating the drivers on my other machine since I discovered quite by accident since I almost never bother to update my GPU drivers since it's such a <gs id="ec5fa9bb-bf69-403c-9678-0d2c7699285a" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="0a922502-c488-411d-bbf3-9a768bfd3d31" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark">pain but</gs> did so and discovered much to my delight it allowed me to increase the resolution on all my 27" screens from 1920x1080 to 2560x1440. I'm tickled this is even possible I didn't think it was possible to increase the resolution past the "native resolution" of an LCD screen. Now I want to do it on my other machine but the AMD installer has been stuck at 2% for the last 3 hours. Like I said completely retarded. I've got the latest Windows updates installed and most of my other stuff <gs id="97902497-a54e-4a10-8d2b-b5f1212a1455" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="0d75c4a2-8108-4f18-b02b-04191d8e35ed" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark">is</gs> current as well just not the GPU drivers. Even this <gs id="adebddc5-f5aa-4f42-8f27-e0400ec65e01" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="3ad382d2-37d6-4954-961a-4715b024f303" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark">machine it</gs> has 3 GPUs in it (2 AMD GPUs & an NVIDIA GPU and neither of them fully installed their respective <gs id="067256e5-7d31-43d5-ae9c-a2f1d7a15556" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="3ad382d2-37d6-4954-961a-4715b024f303" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark">updates however</gs> they installed enough that the ability to increase the resolution on their connected screens was included in the updated components. <gs id="f0f1f288-e81d-48fe-8316-8bdf32a43ae5" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="e870568d-4229-4ff6-adfd-c058d0c848c5" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark">Yay</gs>. <gs id="05c9dcf5-5435-44bb-bdc5-305dc2a4fd2e" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="345cb518-e97a-4928-bd5a-f33f60f36f6d" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark">lol</gs>

    Thanks in advance.

This is so unreal. There are huge numbers of folks out there that are asking for help for this exact issue for MANY different cards and for A LOT OF YEARS. It's Unbelievable.

Re: Unable To Update AMD GPU Driver

First of all use DDU to completely uninstall all graphics card drivers and then install the fresh copy of drivers..
