Unlocking Athlon XP

I just got my hands on the Athlon XP unlocking kit, unfortunately now my computer (AMD ATHLON XP 1800+) is running at 1149mhz and that sucks. Why is it running slower? I am pretty sure i set it all up correctly. Should i retry gunking up my CPU or can this be fixed through the BIOS?

Go into your bios and make sure you have your Front Side Bus frequency/speed at 133mhz and not 100. Thats the most likely problem.:thumb:

hehe, I had a xp2200 running at xp1500 specs, cuz i missed that lil detail.

Awesome thanks that completely fixed the problem. So why did the bios switch back? Does unlocking it reset the bios as well? I am psyched about overclocking this im all jittery. (Figuratively speaking)

Unlocking an athlon xp processor usually resets the bios for some reason so whenever you unlock one check your bios to make sure u aint accidently underclocked.:thumb:
