  • windows XP and 640x480?

I installed XP and it works, but I switched to a old monitor that i had laying around. (old 14" IBM) and the resolution only goes down to 800x600. How do i lower it to 640x480???
I can see the whole width of screen, just missing the top and bottom!!!!

My KVM cables arent here yet so i need some solutin till they arrive. Any ideas how to lower it???

Have you tried adjusting the monitor?
The reason a diamond shines so brightly is because it has many facets which reflect light.

the monitor cant take it. it starts acting up in that mode. I dont think it can handle the res. I think it one of the ones that came w. 386s, hehehe.
      It handles 640x480 great.
How do i go back??????

don't you have manual controls on this monitor? if you do have then then can't you use them to reduce the length and width of picture :?:

OK, I'll use some visual aids.
Monitor 10 secs after being turned on.
          Freaky vertically elongated.

about 30 sec. later. goes dark and starts scrolling. Superfreaky effect. I thought i blew it first time it happened.
So even if i could get it to shrink vertically, this would happen.
            I need it at 640x480!!!!!!

              Ya kiddin' right?

It's lucky not to fall over dead.

Surely ya can pick up a second hand monitor for $30 that's only a fraction of the age of that thing. :?:

Leave it on too long and it might blow up m8 so be careful there. ;)

                              Thanks guys.
This monitor is usually used for testing and fixing other people's systems, so its not used too often. :) But it sure is a workhorse. As soon as the cables arrive I will be in business. :thumb:
                              Hopefully around Wed.
