  • 1700+ help

i installed a amd athlon 1700+ on a soyo-k7ada mobo and i am my mobo detects it as a 1100mhz cpu.

i changed the cpu frq but all that did was show a blue skreen sayin "hardware malfunction. contact your hardware vendor for support"

i emailed amd and they told me to do what i had already done, which was change the frq.

    Please help.

have u got the jumpers right on the mobo
u have to get the jumpers and switch it for the correct one
my mobo came and had 100mhz fsb whereas it should have had 133
i raised the fsb to 133 and it said cmos jumper blah blah blah
switched the jumper on the mobo to the right one
            voila
            just try this

A bit more detail on ya hardware would be nice but if ya usin' PC2100 and have the memory set for runnin' at 33MHz above the FSB speed then this is likely why ya getting the BSOD as 166MHz is usually to much for PC2100 so bring the memory speed back to that of the FSB. But as I said, more detail of all ya hardware and settings would help a lot.
