To match these market needs, Intel plans to set the top-notch high-performance Pentium 4 3.2GHz (P4PXE, P4 Processor Extreme Edition) at the unprecedented high level of US5. The new product is set to hit the market in early November. The price exceeds general market anticipation significantly, in previous articles, DigiTimes reported a target price of US0 for the P4 HTEE (Hyper-Threading Technology Extreme Edition).(http://www.digitimes.com/NewsShow/Ar...ages=A4&seq=11)
so which one of you intel fan boys were whining about the pricing stratagy of the A64/Afx line of cpus in a few other threads? Once again, Intel has proven it is the king of unreasonably high prices. :thumbs do
I've gone too far and need to move on!

Funny thing is the Prescott will be a lot cheaper......the reason why the price on those is so high is because the 2mb L3 cache bloats the size of the die to crazy proportions, making it very expensive to produce.

Not to mention that the new P4C series of processors seems to have taken Amds place when it comes to best performance for price.. I'm working very hard atm in order to own one the day HF2 comes out as I think the game will love those bandwidh monsters.. :D

The Prescott will be cheaper AND perform mutch better than the extreme edtion. :)

There have already been a lot of AMD users who have gone Intel.

The 2.8 will be the real best buy.

Your right, at launch it will be $218 at launch..almost the same price as the 2.6c now. The Prescott 2.8 or 3.0 might be my next processor, but my question is, when is the launch of the Prescott processors?
