    my friend accidentally ripped one of his "rubber thingies" off so he pulled them all off, his pc works fine, not that I'm suggesting you do that.

    not sure whether this would work or not but couldnt you just use a cpu shim to give the clearance required for to not crack the chip

    Yep a shim will fix it as well but just make sure that ya get the right one appropriate for your core.
