    Ah , I see....

    So , is the 800Mhz really 800 mhz ?

I have heard that it is truly 200mhz , but "quad-pumped"
which gives the final value of 800......

    Also,

I have the following equipment, and would like to do some OCing, as I have read on the forums that I can OC my P4 past 3ghz....

Can those who know , clairfy this , and possibly point me to some walkthrus, or detailed docs of how to do all this ?

    Setup:
    p4 2.6CGhz
    2x256 Dual channel DDR400 (Samsung )
    Asus p4p800-vm mobo....

I had to tweak out the ram timings , to get it to run @ 400mhz, and now I wanna try to up the FSB as well as the CPU....

Will I see any performance boost (yes of course I'm a gamer :) )?

Going to 3ghz you will see a large increase in performance. Going from 2.4 to 3.0 netted me approx. 2000 3DMarks, which translates into framerates in gaming.

VM? What does the VM have?

C refers to the newest revision of the Northwood core including a 200mhz FSB and Hyper Threading.

The ASUS P4P800-VM is the video intergrated 865G based mobo but usually ASUS' VM model boards don't overclock.
