If you cant afford a 9700 Pro, get that, Gigabyte is a good manufacturer.

thats only a 9600, not a bad card, but its worth the money to get the XT, plus the XT is retail, so it will come with Half-Life 2 and a few other games and such. Considering Half-Life 2 will reatail at 50 bucks, the 160 dollar card you're really only paying 110 dollars, because everyone will be buying HL-2 :)

There seems to be a LOT of misinformation in this thread.

First off....the 5900 in any form will wipe the floor with any form of the 9600.

Second...i'll recommend a different board. Instead of that Gigabyte get the ASUS K8V Deluxe. You'll thank me later.

    The rest looks good.

    FX5900 - 3DMark2001 [20,566] - 3DMark2003 [7,281] - Aquamark3 [56,694]
    Ti4400 - 3DMark2001 [16,028]

I don't think a 5900SE will "wipe the floor" with a 9600 XT, but it'd probably be a little faster. I'd get the 9600XT just to get Half-Life 2 anyways. Also, did you read tweaktown's review of A64 boards? The ASUS is quite a bit slower than the Gigabyte and their packages are both pretty good. I'd stick with gigabyte. : peace2: Mista K6
