    Default Athlon 64 3200 vs 3000

Both of these are rated at 2.0Ghz. One has 1MB cache and the other 512KB. Both are socket 754. One has a 1600Mhz bus speed as opposed to the others 800Mhz. The price difference is $55 and some change. I guess my question is how will the 512KB extra cache, and 1600Mhz of the 3200 benefit my system? Is it worth the $55? Also, I do not plan on OCing my new rig.

The extra cache will make a noticeable difference. Whether it is worth the extra $55 is up to you, but it will give you better performance.

The Hypertransport link in both CPU's runs at 800MHz but the bus runs in both directions at the same time and is why some show it as running at 1600MHz so the only difference is the L2 cache and so which one will suit you better will depend on what you use it for and if the programs that you run can run better with the larger cache or not.

I'd use my computer for gaming and music recording for the most part.
