    Default AMD Sempron Overclocking Performance

In some forum says this processor outperform AMD 64 +3400 and Intel Pentium 4 3.4E by about 5% in average. What you guys think?

The results speak for themselves. I was going to go with a 2800 myself, but I think I'll get a 3100 Sempron. It's pretty hard to get an A64 2800 to 2.4GHz, and I don't feel like paying more for a CPU that will overclock less. This is just like with Athlon XPs and Mobile Athlon XPs. The Mobiles will overclock further than any non-mobile, even if you're comparing a 2200 Mobile to a regular 3200.

Ok, i found a website where i can get that sempron processor for less than a 100 so i might as well give it a try and upgrade my old AMD Box. I have one question though, what motherboard and memory should go with it, to make use of its full potential? Im thingking of getting a Crucial Ballistix but dont know which model.

BL6464Z402 is the model. It's certainly what you want. It's pretty much the best memory out there for Athlon 64s. Alternatives would be OCZ PC3200 Platinum R2 and OC PC3500 EB. I'd stick with the Crucial, unless the OCZ is a lot cheaper.

For a board, the DFI LANParty UT nF3 250Gb is pretty much the best overclocking board in existence, but the Chaintech VNF3-250 is worth looking into if money becomes an issue (it's about 40% cheaper than the DFI in the U.S., but that might be different for you). The MSI K8N Neo Platinum is the alternative, if the Chaintech isn't cheap and the DFI can't be found. The Epox 8KDA3+ is also worth considering, if it's cheaper than the MSI and DFI (which it shouldn't be).
