I should have been clearer in my post. Unless you overclock your system 24/7, which most people don't, the X2 would be a better all around CPU to have and once programmers start writing things that take advantage of a dual core CPU, they will easily outshine all competition. If you are an avid overclocker who likes to tinker around and benchmark, then the Opteron Socket 939 has shown to be an incredible CPU for the money.

Everyday use at stock or slightly overclocked speeds - get the X2

Benchmarking or high overclocks (which require very good cooling 24/7) - get the Opteron

Overall, the X2 will be a better all around CPU that is good for all tasks.
