Default Opteron 144 -> Opteron 152

    I have a Sun Ultra 20 that came with an Opteron 144 processor. I've recently gotten a hold of an Opteron 152 processor –which the Ultra 20 is supposed to support. I only have the chip though (no fan/heat sink combo).

    I’m wondering if the 144’s fan/sink will work with the 152. I know the 152 runs hotter (it’s dual core). Anyone know if it’s compatible/safe/workable?

    I believe the 144 comes with the stock Aluminum heatsink that comes with all other A64s(the non heat pipe one). The AMD heatpipe cooler olny comes with 1MB Cache X2's, dual core Opterons, and the FX chips to my knowledge and experiance. It will be safe to use the non heatpipe AMD cooler but it will run hotter than normal, though still within a safe margin.
