Thread: opteron killer deals-$50\$70 off hurry til sold out

As a gamer, I've held off on the LCD technology as well...until now. With sub 12ms grey-grey panels now being plentiful, the ghosting issue is all but extinct. An LCD at NAITIVE RESOLUTION will inherently have a sharper image than a CRT, especially with larger screens...the inner (more important) pixels will be in focus where the outer edges will not be as crisp...this is not an issue with LCD type technology.

This.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824112174.. has replaced my 19" CRT. I cannot detect any ghosting nor does it have the "screen door" effect that larger LCDs sometimes have. It did have fuzzy text at first...but a simple switch to the "clear type" option in XP solved that problem. Oblivion is simply phenomenal @1920x1080!

Ha..didn't you know optys help reduce LCD ghosting???

Anyway, I was actually pleasantly surprised that my single 7800 would play anything, much less Oblivion @1920x1080. I had check twice before I was convinced it was actually in 3d at that resolution. I was able to keep it above 40FPS in cities with everything on and the environmental mods I have. I haven't gotten to play any other games as I'm in the midst of moving, but if it can play Oblivion, it should be able to play anything else.

40FPS in cities isn't so special. My laptop's Go 6800 can do that at 1440x900. Can it do more than ten FPS in a fight outside of a city? If so, you're set. Oblivion is quite playable at 15-20 FPS, but I'm not sure that you can manage that at 1920x1080 with a single 7800 and high visual settings.

Well, I just ordered the Dell 2407 so I will be sure to report back my experience. 1920X1200 gaming sure sounds sweet to me! Not looking to better my CRT, I just want widescreen as the games I play natively support it.

I've walked around and yes, it was fine...I'll have to verify FPS next time I play.
