Default Do u know nething about a 24 GHZ machine !!!!

Yes, Intel showcased 2 Quad Core Xeons on CES 2007.That's a total of Eight cores each running at 3Ghz.That's a total of 24 Ghz.

I have never heard of multi-processor machines being called a speed where the processors were added up. The article you linked to does not have this association either. I guess that means that since I run a dual-core processor my home computer runs at 4.8GHz?

Ya, I agree with Darth, it only means you have a lot of cores to do incredible multitasking. its a bunch of processors running at the same frequency, I dont see how you would add up the frequencies.
    Mobo...............Asus P5N-SLI (NF570)
    RAM................2 GB Kingston DDR2/667 CL5
    GPU................Evga e-GeForce 7900GTO 512MB
    CPU................Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 2MB L2
    HDD................Hitachi 160 GB IDE
    Disk Drive.........Sony DVD+-RW 16x IDE
    PSU................BFG 650W (on sale for 80$, 80$off!!)
    OS..................Windows XP Home SP2
Sound card......Sound Blaster x-FI xtreme music
Overclocked somewhat w/Arctic cooler freezer 7 pro
other info: saitek eclipse red backlit keyboard
cheap micro innovations wireless optical mouse
    logitech x-530 speakers (5.1)
18" viewable KDS CRT monitor (I'll upgrade when it dies)
about 8 80MM fans and I sleeved most of the cables
It would be quiet but I have 1 noisy Vantek that blows like a turbine. A crappy generic case which with cammo paint and holes all over.

Ya, both of u are perfectly right but don't get me wrong.Yeah, I should have clarified what I've written but forgot.I just love to add frequencies of each CPUs but I know practically it's not possible but i love to think that I'm using a multi Gigahertzs machine.Just think of Rams.If u have 4 rams of 512 MB each,u call it 2GB,right ? But it's not possible with CPUs,I know. But I would loved to see that happen.

4 * 512MB RAM = 2GB because you are talking total quantity, not speed.

BUT it doesnt work that way for SLI or Crossfire b/c they are working in tandem right?

Ya, we should have double the graphics performance when using SLI or Crossfire but it doesn't happen. We can only get 30-40% performance gain.

In Crossfire or SLI you split the workload between the two video cards. Each card is responsible for providing half the displayed content, so your cards are not adding their speeds to each other, they are simply doing half the work and getting help with the other half from the other board.

8 core cpus are verging on ridiculous anyway. dvd encoding and folding is the only thing i can think of (outside of commercial apps) that will use all of the cores, and who really has enough video to justify those CPUs?
    System Specs:
    AMD athlon 64 3200 venice @ 2.4ghz
    Asrock Dual-939SATA2

    1gb Corsair XMS TwinX PC3200 timings 2-3-3-6 at 400mhz
250gb Hitatchi deskstar T7K500 SATAII disk
    160gb samsung spinpoint PATA disk

Gamers will have games soon enough to make use of all those cores (I remember when ppl use to say that you couldn't use more than 16MB of v/c memory either, less than that actually, and then 32MB, followed 64MB, etc., and then the same applies for system memory limits over the same period) and then they'll also be using extra v/c's just for physics as well as graphics by then and that isn't so far away as many ppl would like to think.
