I think Dell have possible just muffed the I7 mb up or something cause its running a RAID 1 and it is noticably slower than my single boot hdd. Anyway the I7 is the office fileserver/BIONIC beast, I just liberated the HD4850 and put the trusty GF7300LE in its place. It dont need much graphics power since its not even gunna have a screen attached. My Sig system is running so fracking sweet now. Doing all the right things, Ive made Windows 7 the only system on that machine as everything works and fast.... My other Dell with a Pentium D 950 @3.4 and 3gb + 8800GT(which seems to be working ok for some reason? maybe the X48-DS5 just didnt like it???) is doing the job for the wife to stuff with, I finally got the Drive Cloned and it works a treat. Ill just keep that for a good working copy of all my stuff and programs for when/if this 7200.11 poo's itself. I love it when stuff works out.

The Quad core/ I7 would have kicked ass for my dvd ripping and encoding but the C2D already does it ship loads quicker than the PD. So im happy for now till I can afford/I7 drop in price.
Lol. I wouldn't get a DELL, but whatever. Sometime next year I'm planning a Phenom II 940 @ 3.0 (gonna get it to 3.4 or more), 4GB Patriot Viper @ 1066MHz, 9800GT with 1024MB GDDR3, and a 150GB VelociRaptor hard drive. Then that system will just have games and virtually no other software on it.

Then I'm gonna get a second system, AMD Athlon 6400+ (dual core), which stocks at 3.2GHz, 1GB of the same Patriot Viper RAM, a 320GB drive and an 8800GT. That one I'll use for photoshop, MS office, web browsing, etc.

Then I'll get cluster software and link them together, have them work together with parallel processing. I doubt I'll ever get the second system but it would be awesome, playing Crysis with that monster...
    Current system:
    - Intel Q8200 Processor (2.33GHz) (7x multi, roughly 340MHz FSB)
    - Intel DG45ID Motherboard (stupid locked BIOS >:( )
    - 6 GB DDR2 RAM (667MHz)
    - PNY GeForce 9500GT (750MHz Core clock, 1900MHz Shader clock, 500MHz Memory clock)
    -585GB SATA HDD (7200RPM)

Theres nothing wrong with dell. Been the most reliable systems ive ever owned. The only downside it that you cant overclock it. The only reason I got that dell i7 was it was cheap. And it had everything i wanted for the office server machine, Plus I got the HD4850 out of it to replace my dying 8800GT so it was a win win situation.

Fair enough, maybe it's different in Australia but in the UK we generally don't touch Dell with a ten foot pole. Whatever, doesn't matter. The only reason I say this is because my friend had a Dell and my school has Dells and they all break down all the time... If they work for you, then that's fine.

For workstation builds, Dell T3500's are beyond reproach for mission critical work. We've been using the T3400 for a year now and it's one of the best received machines we've ever deployed. Stable, reliable, and fast (not to mention easy to upgrade as needed).

I used to hate Dell. Their recent work has changed my mind about them though.

    And several other rigs...
