Not the most powerful of systems, but still, no coasters whatsoever.
I wasn't bagging on Imation. I like them and I use them. It's just that in my neck of the woods, they come at a very small price tag and some people equate that with being lower quality. I have never made a coaster with Imation. If they work that is good enough for me. :D

I see what you're saying. Lite-On Burners come with a small price tag, and I would take them over any brand, Plextor included.

I understand that many times, 'you get what you pay for' is true, but that is very very often not the case with computer stuff. And with consumables, like CD-R's I am willing to try any brand, and then stick with what works, and is cheapest.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to convince you, because I don't think you need convincing, but I'm just saying, its something to keep in mind. If its a computer part, and it costs more, it is very often not better than the cheaper option, and thats why researching stuff is such a good idea.

If the power supply is the problem you are lucky that you only lost the cd/rw.

Well they eventually gave me a new PSU which gave the same readings. Interestingly enough the old one had the warranty label damaged so there was some argument (they gave me the benefit of the doubt - eventually). I swapped it with my spare PC and now both seem to be happy.

The Liteon has been replaced by the manufacturer :D

    Thanks everyone.

sorry to come in this thread kind of late, but I've been having the same +12V readings on my Asus Probe. It stays pretty constant at 13.186, but every 7-10 minutes or so it will jump up to 13.421 or somethign like that for a couple seconds, then back to 13.186.

my bios says that it's at 12.something....weird, so I don't know what to believe. though I haven't had any problems with hardware, should I get a new PSU? Should the +12V fluctuate at all?
