    1. Putting a 2.26 cpu on a DFI nb76ec mobo........would this restrict the 2.26 potential to much?

with regards to o/cing it would only be moderate if at all

    2. or would another mobo be a better choice even with mod. o/c

I will be doing a complete u/grade as in...... total new computer

What i am after is a very solid fast system

    3. With this type of system in mind ...would i be better off spending more money on performance ram or a diffrent mobo?

Hi there, i'm also upgrading to a Intel p4 2,26 Ghz with the new 533 bus. I've choosen a mobo from Asus, "Asus p4t533-c"
I've read only possitive things about it and it is to be used with eighter pc800 or 1066 rambus. It should be really good and very stable when overclocked also...

    I think i will go with a 845e or g chip.....unless rambus and
ddr prices get to the same. AS THEY ARE STARTING TO GET CLOSER IN PRICE
how does the 850 chip overclock compared with the 845

Set up straight away the i858E with 1066 rambus will win most benchmarks without even being pushed now start adding into it a motherboard that a few extra MHz can be squeezed out with. If you can afford the entry level price tag then by all means go for it. ;)
I'd like to see Intel speed up with this dual channel DDR chipset that they're spose to have though and see how a P4 copes with that sort of bandwidth. :D
