    Default Thermal Paste Spreading

Last night I finished builing my new PC with an ASUS mobo and core i7-950 CPU. I'm using Thors Hammer heatsync for cooling. Due to inexperience and conflicting directions I may have put the thermal paste on incorrectly. I spread a thin layer on the CPU and a thin layer on the heatsync. Since then I saw one site for Arctic Silver which said to only put a thin line on the core i7 CPU. So I may have put on too much. Can anyone help with what the risk is? Do I need to take everything out clean it off and start over? I didn't see any oozing out when tightening the heatsync.

Yes to be on the safe side reinstall. I use rubbing alcohol to remove the old paste. Then just a thin line smeared to a thin layer on the cpu.
