Thread: AMD is working on a new speed testing method

CNET just had an article on the new benchmark that AMD would like to develop to prove once and for all that they produce the fastest chips in the world, at a better price. Read here:

    http://news.com.com/2100-1001-954783.html

With a test like this we can finally compare the P4, the AMD XPs, and the G4 processor from Mac. Finally my Mac lovin' friend can't claim the G4 is a better processor cause it resizes a photo in adobe photoshop faster.

I am betting that Intel is against it becuse they don't want the REAL truth known about their processors!

If a new test becomes available that is fair across all platforms, then I'm all for it. But if it ends up being something that is biased towards the AMD line, then it can go suck eggs.

Here's AMD's "True Performance Initiative" FAQ page that has been up for quite sometime now, http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/...4^3776,00.html , from info that was givin' at a conference sometime ago they're lookin' at something which takes in IPC (intructrions per cycle) X Speed and obtaining a rating that way. ;)
