    Wiggo,

Would you explain ata100/ata133. Is it correct to assume that ata133 is faster than ata100? Thanks

ATA133 is a farce (just like Serial ATA atm) as no hard drive can out perform the ATA100 protocol yet and those Maxtors are only relyin' on ppl's ignorance in thinkin' bigger numbers are better when in real life they're not. ;)

It is certainly correct to assume that 133 would outperform 100.

But the real-world testing has shown this to be false, time and time again.
If a HDD says ATA133, that's OK -- but don't pay 1 penny more for it, because all you get is the bigger number on the sticker.

    soundcards:?:
I know we haven't talked about it yet, but when you get to it -- consider the Turtle Beach offerings. Save yourself some $'s and get better sound to boot when compared to (cough) popular name brand.

Ya don't need the sound card as the 8RDA+ has an awesome 6.1 sound capability but this chart may help with ya video card choice. :devil win

If you already have a sound card on hand, you might consider saving yourself about $30 and not get the (+) version. I am assuming that you are not using any firewire devices with your current setup, since the non plus version doesn't have firewire. The sound is kind of flaky on the 8RDA, but I had my sound card from my last rig that commited suicide. :snip: Also, XP1800's are going for about $50 and that would double the speed of your cpu and crank up the FSB. Just a thought.
