NimrodAUS you have got to be kidding.... or just flamebait... . Your opinion of AMD really doesn't matter to me (although I have usually found AMD CPUs to be very serviceable and reasonably priced). No arguement, it has been a few years since they were building the fastest CPUs for the average gamer but they were, arguably, the best for awhile. The true bottom line is that without AMD in existance who would compete with Intel? Without some form of real competition (even if only at lower levels) Intel would be able to monopolize the market and put any price they choose on their chips.

Oh Sorry I though this was a public forum. I didn’t know that I wasn’t aloud to have an opinion. I wasn’t trying to force my thoughts onto anyone, I was just stating a really meaning-less statement. I wasn’t trying to start a flame war or anything like that, because I don’t believe in such a thing and the fact that I get called an arsehole over something so trivia is just proof that there are still people even on this forum were you would think people would have more than an average intelligence, that like flaming.

Now PrairieDawg, Your statement is the most sensible thing today, Without AMD there would probably be no C2D and the like because there would be no comp. Its like Telstra our Telecommunications Giant in Australia, they have no real comp especially in the country so they can charge ridicules prices for poor service.

I realise now that "Suck" Is such a strong word, and I really don’t have any current AMD experience to justify such a statement. Every time I think of AMD I think of my old AMD Athlon Thunderbird 800, that I used to leave on at night to keep my room warm.

So I hope I have cleared up a few things, and I apologise to all those I have offended with my irrational outburst.

P.S. If Anyone wants to take this matter up with me Personally, I invite you to pm me.

You don't like AMD, tis fine. It was more the bluntness of your post. Saying a company should have stayed dead when they still make good products and create good competition was just a bit of an overstep. Especially since they bought ATI and are doing awesome things with them, creating competition with nVidia. I have no problem with your opinions, it just more how you word it.

Another very valid argument to why AMD do NOT suck, is the ATI line of products. Again I have not had actual recent experience with them but I sure hope they are doing things good cause NVIDIA need to step it up a bit. Especially in there driver department, Im am at the point that i am thinking about getting an ATI card but I have know Idea which is a good one to replace my 8800GT??

I Officially Retract My Statement that AMD Suck. AMD arnt that bad.

Well then, if you have the money, get a Radeon 4870X2. It's better than having two cards in crossfire as this has the power of two of the cards but with no issues associated with crossfire (like not using it 100%).

If this has been said already, I don't know, but the new Phenom II ARE multiplier locked EXCEPT for the 940. That is completely unlocked. Also, AMD have their new Overdrive o/c utility, so that should be pretty good.
    Current system:

    - Intel DG45ID Motherboard (stupid locked BIOS >:( )
    - 6 GB DDR2 RAM (667MHz)
    - PNY GeForce 9500GT (750MHz Core clock, 1900MHz Shader clock, 500MHz Memory clock)
    -585GB SATA HDD (7200RPM)

This is actually incorrect as all AMD "Black Edition" CPU's are unlocked.
