I just put the SSD in a X41 (the one of my gf), and it works great... even under win 7 wit this old computer.
but she does not care about SSD :).

still it does not work in my X40... it is funny because i found this quote of mr runcore marketing, mid of september:

"bgxmmx, that is not true the IDE drive works great in the IBM X40 the only drive we are having trouble with now is the MBA Rev A drive." (in the MBA thread, p10)...

I hope you can make it right Runcore! you did many unverified claim so far, and many appear to be wrong! we want act (and also some info would be good).

Since RunCore have not stated if the fix will be firmware or hardware I have chosen not to return my X40 ssd yet, as I was lucky to avoid Customs tax when I received it originally.
Right now I use it in my T43. It is not as fast as it was in X40, but I have no BSOD.
I will be happy when RunCore come up with a fix, then I may use my X40 again. The T43 weights about 60% more than my X40 currently on the shelf.

I bought a lenovo SSD for X41 (but it is 100% compatible with my X40).
It cost me 2/3 the price of the Runcore, works like a charm, consume much less than the runcore (the reason why it works probably). I consume slightly less than the HD (which was not the case for the runcore at all). Overall, i gain 5% of autonomy, which is good, even thought it is not earthshattering.

Of course, the performance are not great, but it is good enough:
    12MB/S read @ 4K, 1.5MB/S in write.
As long as write is not worth than the HD (here 2 as fast) and the read is 30 times faster, i am fine :). Btw, i really feel the proc is lagging behind the SSD now :p.

Anyway, i ll be happy to hear from runcore for my SSD i bought from them!

Yes, maybe returning the defective RunCore SSD and buying an slower Lenovo or a Kingspec SSD will enable me to use my X40 again. It is a pity, as the RunCore SSD was very fast between the BSOD-problems.

i would stay away from the kingspec (with a Jmicron controller).

the reason is that the write speed is abysmal - it can do only 4IO per second (can write 4 times per second oly), which is just awful. It makes your computer stutter, stops at some time. the lenovo SSD does not have the same problem, and is available in ebay at around the same price.

also, power consumption seems to be better for the lenovo.

Because of the question of supply voltage, it caused bule screen.
RunCore have found the where the problem is, and modify the supply voltage to 3.3V for ThinkPad X40 and X41.
Now it is stable on it.

Runcore, did you tested it on a X40?
again, the disk worked perfectly on a X41, so if you didnt tested on a X40, we have no chance to know.

The second thing is that changing the voltage is not going to change much things... the important thing is the power consumption. pushing lower voltage will just raise the Intensity by as much, and the disk would crash again.

    Thanks for the confirmations!
