    mheere,

Thanks for the summary. I have an Intel SSD in my main desktop and am really enjoying it. Sadly, the SSD would probably be even more impactful if installed on my Dell, but the 1.8 mm feature seems to have me limited in options. I think I will wait on the Runcore to get the details worked out. $420 is just too much to spend to get a headache...

#2 Runcore Drive Part # and Serial #
RunCore Pro IV 128GB 2.5" SATA SSD
    RCP-IV-S2528-C
PN: starts with IM (im assuming according to the PDF instructions this is samsung M-die, however I am not sure if its 16 or 8 chips..)
    FW: 0.1

The 2.5" SATA have 16pcs flash.
I think the firmware of IM2816.exe is for your type.

#2 Runcore Drive Part # and Serial # if accessible
    RCP-IV-Z1828-C, PN 14032800 (128GB / Samsung M-Die, 8 Flash chips, ZIF PATA)

    #3 Describe Bug
No previous problems with the 1571 firmware. Didn't try the 1819 version.
Have been running Wiper.exe on a scheduled basis.

#4 Does the new FW fix the bug

#5 What FW did you upgrade from
    1571

#6 Any new bugs or observations to report
Initial testing shows improved write performance

    #Comment
Once I had created a bootable USB drive, it was an easy firmware update.
Perhaps Runcore could add how to do this into the instructions.

Interested to see whether the GC improves speed overtime as other users have reported.

    1916 firmware update failure

    #1 Computer Model
    Fujitsu U820

#2 Runcore Drive Part # and Serial # if accessible
    RCP-IV-Z1864-C, PN 14056400 (64GB / Samsung D-Die, 8 Flash chips, ZIF PATA)

    #3 Describe Bug
1819 was slightly buggy. Installing Win7 req'd special procedure (as documented by RunCore). After install, Wiper could lead to computer hanging. Very occasionally, PC would not boot and report it cannot see the SSD.

#4 Does the new FW fix the bug
NO- CANNOT UPDATE TO NEW FIRMWARE !

#5 What FW did you upgrade from
    1819

#6 Any new bugs or observations to report

    #Comment
I used a bootable USB drive to attempt firmware update. Selecting the SSD, I got error message 1 firmware failed to download - bye ! Rebooting led to a very slow BIOS boot but then moved to Win 7 boot as normal. Second attempt yielded same results. Device manager confirms FW still 1819

Red face Re: New FW1916 available for DL and Bug Fix Report By Model

I successfully upgraded to the 1916 from the 1819 though the drive had and is still working superbly. My main bug with the firmware was getting it to allow me to input the drive # in order to finalize the update. It put the "bye" salutation in at the same time it informed me of my target drive. I lucked out and hit "1" simultaneously with the dos refresh that asks me what number drive to flash. Then it updated ,no problem.

After taking out the ssd a bunch of times yesterday, I don't feel like looking up the serial # unless it's absolutely necessary

TweakTown is going to do a full performance test on the 1819 and 1916 FW in the next week (will get started on Wednesday) with the Pro IV 256GB drive.

I noticed while looking through the thread that some of you guys said that it reported a failed update. I have ran into a couple of drives from other manufactures where it would say the FW failed to update but when I put the drive back in a Windows enviroment it reported being updated. I think there is a something with the final check sequence that may show a failure but it is after the drive has been fully flash. Hopefully this helps some of you guys. We test a lot of drives and have written this issue off a a common bug that doesn't affect performance at this point. It is most likely just a check error.

chrisram, wish what you said held true for me. Unfortunately, multiple failures after using a MS-DOS bootdisk and then trying other bootdisks, still no luck. Still on FW1819
