you have to set the drive to udma5 after every boot/resume from standby/resume from hibernate by using a tool called "hdparm"

If you do not want to boot using udma2 you can use GRUB2 which also offers hdparm to set udma5 before booting windows.

You still have to set udma5 after hybernation/suspend though.

    There is no other solution.

I had the same situation with my TZ31.

    But this is really... unacceptable.

I'm using my notebook in standby \ resume mode instead of shutdown \ boot up and do not wish to mess with any utilities after resume 5 times a day :(

Runcore, is there any way to obtain permanent max notebook hardware supported UDMA mode for IV ZIF PATA drives?

i think the problem lies within the pata bridge chip which some laptops don't recognize as udma5

solution: get another ssd with native pata, other than that there is only the workaround with hdparm

Easy fix. Use a VBS script to automatically run 'hdparm -X udma5 /dev/sda' on a resume. Eg here. 1810tray also has this a feature to do this.

Runcore ProIV ZIF SSD offers exceptional bang-per-buck. Worthy of a little workaround to a small niggle.

Is this script compatible with Windows 7? I cannot get it work as compiler cannot find needed object winmgmts :(

Works in Win7 as well. Just make sure you have your battery in the system.
