CPU Fan problem

I know it was really dumb, but I connected a fan to my A7v8x-x motherboard's case fan plug and all of a sudden the speed of the cpu fan dropped from 4100rpm to 3000 rpm! It is quieter, but it also raised the temps of the cpu by about 6C! ANyone know how to fix this?

Power the fan straight from the PSU and only let the fan be monitored by the the mobo from the CPU header and not the case fan header.
