  • X99-Gaming-5P 6850K 128G Ram - Help Overclock

Hi there all..I need some assistance with my new build. #OblivionPC

I put together an X99-Gaming 5P (updated to the latest F23 Bios), a 6850K, and 128 Gig of Corsair Dominator 3333 DDR4 (Running manual at 3200, because the board doesn't list 3333 as an option). The system is water cooled with an EK Nickel block and a massive 4 bay Radiator system.. Idle temp is in the low 20's, under 100% load highest has been high 70s. (C) I have been trying all night to get the overclock stable. I know the 6850K isn't the best OC processor, Average 4.2-4.5Ghz, but im having a beast of a time getting 4.2 Stable..

Here are my bios screens, apparently Gigabyte has SO many voltage/options that other boards don't have (named different) that I have had to look and search online but i don't know what is what on this board so maybe someone can help and point me in the right direction.

So far at 4.2ghz i have been able to get IBT to run stable, but Prime95 will not. I dont need 7Ghz :D but I would like to get it 100% stable in-between 4.2 and 4.6 someplace. Any help is much appreciated. Pics are linked below.

    Re: X99-Gaming-5P 6850K 128G Ram - Help Overclock

Just want to update (and thanks everyone for checking out the thread)..

I played with it some tonight, and am im sitting here it looks like im stable at 4.4Ghz (1.36V) and 3000Mhz on the 128 Gig of Ram. Oddly enough if i use the XMP Profile, i can get 3333, but it drops the Ram from 128 gig to 96 Gig.. I have to play with the voltages and see if i can get it stable at its rated 3333.

The issue i seem to have is this Gaming 5P board doesn't have the same bios "settings" as other X99 boards per se.. So im kinda working my way around the "Agent" settings and such that don't have the same settings as the Asus boards etc..

Just wanted to update on this, and thanks so many people for checking out the thread.

Last night after messing with it for a solid 4 hours, I was able to get apparent rock stabilty at around 4.2Ghz, with the Ram running at 3000 with XMP disabled. As soon as i try to go above 3000 (either at 100 or 125 clock) the motherboard only sees 96 Gig and its not right.. I'm sure there are voltages i can mess with to assist in that, but im unsure outside of the Memory voltage at 1.35 which other ones i should set.. I'm kind of doing this blind, i have read and researched as many x99 articles as i can find but only 2 were using the gaming 5p, and it's bios options just don't read out like other boards do, so im guessing here.. Do i have to push the NB or SB voltages higher? I don't even know where they are in this bios..

Well, im trying, play with it more tonight.

Btw - Ran over an hour on OCCT, and IBT/Prime95 No Issues at current setup. According to benchmarks in Aida its going pretty well, faster then any x99 system listed.. But hey, were OCers I want MORE.
