The Next File system from Microsoft, will apparently be implemented in Windows Longhorn. NTFS was created in 1993, and WFS (which is just a code name) will replace it.

(if this is not news to you, :P , some redundancy is good)

    I found this fascinating.

ya I read that back when I was fist put up, it is kinda interesting reading but it sounds like they are having some trouble with it and will still have NTFS and FAT32 as options when installing longhorn

Although it doesn't make much difference to me, as I don't intend to ever install Longhorn on any of my PCs

but unfortunalty, since I work in the IT industry, I'll probably have to get familar with it anyway...

because i have yet to read anything appealing about it. Don't ask me to sight specifics, I don't really remember anything specific...just that after reading them I felt sick at the idea of ever using it

from what I've read it just seems like the ultimate noob OS...at least with XP Pro I can strip away all the crap that M$ stuffed into it; which makes awfully similar to win2k ;)

I'm sure it will be great for a lot of people, but it certainly wont be for me

Why do you think that is? maybe its because everything you hear is speculation? And not to mention, shock-media negative speculation?

Don't believe anything you read, unless it is a press release from MS. Noone else knows jack.

And you can't remember specifics? Not surprising, shock-media rarely uses specifics, so that they can't be proved wrong.
but it certainly wont be for me
I assure you, there's no way to know that, now.

I think interviews with M$ counts as more than speculation, don't you?
I'm all for new and improved, but not every thing that is new, improved, or both... is a good thing

no offence to anyone but its just my point of view.

when XP was about to be launched or even after it being launched, i listened to things like M$ will be maintaing full HD logs of every PC on which XP will be loaded and there will no privacy and that XP will be the crappiest OS of the lot.
things about how it had numerous amount of secuirty bugs and how it would eXPose us to hackers and how it was eXtra Painful.
i was completely freaked out but installed XP anyhow. may be these speculations are just the normal human tendency to talk sh*t abt things he doesn't know much abt.

i don't much abt longhorn either so i won't talk much but i am sure i will try its full version as soon as i will be able to do so LEGALLY.

I thank the heavens each day that I have Windows 98 SE:geek:
