    Whats the diff between Western Digitals Sata hard drives ?
    Standard , Carver and S E models................

    Standard would most likely be the 5400RPM hard drives. Which is are the older slower drives (slowest of the westren digital line).

    The Caviar is the 7200RPM which is faster noticeable to some but to others not (depends on apps and what you use).

    The Special Edition 7200 RPM Caviar have an extra 6mb cache for a total of eight. You can see the differnce on these...the extra cache is great for gaming apps and DV editing and stuff like that. Right now they have great deals on them ...some of the prices of the SE's are very close to the reg Caviar...which doesn't make it worth buying the REG.

    SATA would be the Raptor but i wouoldn't worry about SATA for now...you should be good with a SE which claim to have SCSI like performance.
