Thread: Raid array question

    Default Raid array question

A friend of mine set up his new computer but in the mean time he set up a raid array with only one computer. I am not familiar with the abit way of doing it but it looks like it is a 0 array. If he only is using one disk will that cut into performance?

    Default Re: Raid array question

What would be the point of using a single disk in a raid array? Raid is used for two reasons ... speed and redundancy .... sometimes both. If you put all of the information on a single drive then neither speed nor redundancy is attained. A single disk can only read/write so fast no matter how you configure the partitions.
