Default Host Protected Areas (HPA) Question

Gigabyte's Mainboards back up a the BIOS image to the HPA.

If you issue SET_MAX_ADDRESS to your drive you will add the HPA to the user-addressable area.

If they (are not in the MBR? and) may appear as usable sectors, how do you see the data that was in the HPA (instead of it being marked as available?)? I need to know the exact file names, lengths, etc, which probably could be achieved with a (suggestions) data recovery suite..?

I want to repair a BIOS-damaged mainboard, with the HPA BIOS image (which is also damaged as best I can ascertain).

My question twofold: Where is the MBR for the HPA - and if, as I suspect, it doesn't exist, what software can be used to best ascertain the organization of the data?
