Default sata drive 0, ide dvd slave

    intell dg35ec motherboard

new WD 500 gig sata hd and new IDE DVD burner

I can't get the bios to recognise the IDE dvd as a slave it is seen as primary master

the sata drive is recognised as drive 0

in the bios the boot order is dvd IDE is first to boot, the sata hd is second to boot

    the screen is saying

    "Intel (R) Bootagent GE V1.2,50
    Copyright (C) 1997-2007 Intel Corporation

Intel CR Bootagent PXE Base Code PXE Build 086

    PXE-E61: media test failure,check cable
    PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent"

then stays on with flashing cursor
    all equipment is new

    any help greatly appreciated

Your IDE channel is different than your SATA channel. To have a slave, implies that there is a master, which you don't have. Re-jumper your IDE DVD to CS or master (CS is probably better). Make sure your SATA HD is bootable and has an active partition.

It sounds like the errors you are seing may be coming from your mobo trying to boot from LAN. Make sure that in your bios under boot order that everything after your SATA HD is disabled.

    1st boot device=DVD
    2nd boot device=HD
    3rd boot device=disabled
