Default Need advice on installing my old HDD as back up

I just installed two 750GB Caviar Black hard drives in RAID 0 on my system. I am running my OS of of these hard drives. I backed up my personal files on an external drive that is now having issues and I'm afraid I will lose some files.

I would like to use my old 500GB Hitachi Deskstar hard drive to back up my most important files and also pull some existing personal files that are still stored on it. The old hard drive still has all of the files, operating system, drivers, etc. from before I replaced it. Can I safely add this hard drive without reformatting so I save the files that are currently on it? If so, can I safely delete the old operating system from the old drive without causing problems with the OS on my new hard drives? Any advice is appreciated.

Yes, it will just show up as a NON RAID member if you add it to the Intel (yellow) ports, which I assume you have your array on right? Do not move your array disks around though!!

Then in windows it will show up as a extra drive/partition, then you can do whatever you want such as create a second partition on the drive after your old OS install and put your new backup data there.

And yes, if you need to delete the old OS install go right ahead, be sure to grab the files you wanted/mentioned first though.

You could also plug it into the Purple (J.Micron) ports, but I suggest the Intel ones as it will be faster transferring your data.

Be sure after you add it to go into the BIOS and go into the Advanced BIOS Page and then into Hard Disk Boot Priority and be sure your array by name is at the top of the list

Thanks! I was 99% sure that was the case but I didn't want to take any chances.

Everything is good. Deleting the OS and program files was more of a pain than I realized but everything is working great.
