    Hi all
    I think me hdd is dieing on me its an Ibm ic35lo40avvn07-1
    Me computerer slowed down to a crewl and stoped responding ,I restarted and got a message saying Hdd SMART enabled and Bad ,Backup and replace,
    Press f1 to to restart
    got to the windows xp page and stopped
    Have now managed to fdisk and formatt it
    reinstalled xp eventully it took a very long time about 2 hour,s
    up and running now but at times it takes forever to do somthing,
    still get the message the Hdd SMART ENABLED Bad Back up and replace ,
    HDD is 4 months old 40 gig is it nackered?

    Makes a little noise, but nothing that I would say was unusal

    its working now no noise but smart says bad back up and replace

    Go to IMB's site for a firmware upgrade that will keep it alive hopefully long enough till a new drive gets there, its worked for quite a few for a few months. ;)

    :) took it back to shop exchanged it for a seagate barracuda up and running again ,
