just got my raid0 set up today, and after a fresh install of windowsxp, boot up takes like 30 bars to load, vs the 6 on a regular ata100/IDE...can any1 help me? my friends highpoint boots up in 1 bar.

i don't know whether it is relevant or not, but did you ever try bootvis or IRQ8 priority tweak (quite a controversial tweak, but works for me)?
your RAID controller drivers can be a problem too.

    btw cool sig ;)

How to boost XP speed by by changing real time clock priority?

I read about this trick the other day over Internet. Open Registry by going to START-RUN and typing REGEDIT. Navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\PriorityControl]. If you see an entry by the name IRQ8Priority set it to a value "IRQ8Priority"=1 if you don't then click on the right pane and add a new dword entry with given name.. IRQ8 is typically reserved for real time clock in most of the computers. Make sure thats the case (by going to device manager -> system devices -> system COMS/realtime clock -> properties -> resources tab , if it is set to another number try adding an entry with that number N as IRQNPriority) . Generally realtime clock priority boosting helps most but you are free to try others as well.

its a tweak that lots of tweakers don't agree to be working but what can i say when it reduced those 14 bars at boot time to just 1 bar.
try using bootvis it doesn't work. its a good tool and tells you where at boot-up is the problem. it is known to help in boot times...but unfortunately it never worked for me. lol, but still i would maintain that it works cos i have seen lots of people saying so.

did you check your RAID drivers? that can be a problem too.
