    Hey guys,

I recently was given the go-ahead by a client to build a new P4 based machine for him. Normally he doesn't mind me substituting parts, as long as I let him know. Went into my supplier, and all they had in the P4 range were 1.7GHz and 2.4GHz models. Of course the 2.4GHz model was too expensive, so I bought the 1.7GHz model (after all it's only going to be used for office work). Sent him an SMS to notify him, and he said "I would prefer the 1.9GHz" (what I quoted him). Crap!!!

So the situation is... I have a 1.7GHz Willamette I need to sell. Retail box version, SL5UG stepping, but I have opened the shrinkwrap (a habit after I was almost sold a remarked chip in 1998). The internal CPU packaging isn't open, still sealed.

I will start bids at A$250, including free C.O.D. shipping to anybody in Australia via Australia Post.

    Thanks guys

Ablinus...You always consult the customer before you change the specs on the system as this will affect the over all cost, and you have to keep the customer as happy as possible :afro:

You still cannot overclock a system to disguise it as a faster PC than it is.....and it is best to keep the system at stock speeds for the customer :p

I wasn't suggesting he disguise anything - He should have told him he can overclock it for no extra $$$.

Yes - I have dealt with this guy on numerous occassions and he has always been OK with substitution (and yes I was going to give him a refund on the difference). Oh well will have to try and find a 1.9GHz - they are rather rare in Brisbane ATM :(
