Exactly. For example, it would be like Honda releasing a Civic EX, but with the same exact features as the DX with no extras. What would be the point of paying extra for the EX when you could get the same thing from the DX for 30% less cost?

The Honda Civic can burn to the ground :flames:.

It was an example cause most people know that the DX = crap and the EX is the top of the line on honda's :)

But yeah, I agree. I have a friend who spent $18k on a new civic and the thing is so damn tiny, and it's got a 1.7 or something ridiculously small. I laugh at him from my intrepid :)

JSR: According to AnandTech some retailers already have the Radeon 9800 XT in stock. The "XT" is to be officially unveiled on the 30th of September on Alcatraz Island, so I would expect the cards to appear soon after that. Sapphire do a range of fanless cards called the "Ultimate Edition", is this what you are referring to? (see attachment)

    It's a glorified Zalman.

JSR: The last time I checked Sapphire had two (current) versions, one based on the 9600 Pro, and one based on the 9800 Pro. Their advantage is simply that they are silent because they have no active cooler. I would imagine that Sapphire will release an "Ultimate Edition" of the "XT" eventually for the same reason. Noiseless graphics cards, indeed noiseless computers do appeal to a lot of people.
