2 things...1:Soulburner longhorn isnt buggy...where do you get ur knowledge from? expiriance, u a win beta tester?? or just from guessing ? thats ok. microsoft sux with finaly products, im a M$ fan and ill agree they royaly suck. but i had actualy many copies of longhorn, from 3965 to 4008 and 4026, all new builds, and they actualy ran more stable then xp pro does, on my box, anyway, but 4026 requires a dx9 vid. card cuz it has the 3d desktop inigrated into it. only prob with betas is there r no driver support.
as for that 9900pro, WOW!!! ATI finaly made a card thats not as ugly a brick, if only there drivers worked like Nvidias, id actualy buy one.

crazysniper22: My pleasure mate, I must say it is a pretty cool piece of kit. Personally I can't wait for 2004, with so much new technology arriving all at once, it should prove to be a very interesting and expensive year.

dude281: Radeon 9800 XT 128MB $399 USD, 256MB $499 USD. I've got a feeling that the Hercules 3D Prophet 9800 XT will be something a little bit special, so I would wait.

AsianBatman: 1. Judging by the size of the fan and the blade profile, I would say it shouldn't be too noisy (30db as a guess). I can't see ATI repeating the "Dustbuster" saga. 2. Microsoft Longhorn Beta Testing starts within the next six months.

ZEROKOOL: That is why I'm getting one, because I'm not convinced that ATI's drivers are as bad as everyones says they are. But if they are, you guys will be the first to know I promise you.

Half Life 2 postponed, Radeon 9800XT in short supply

The Half-Life 2 'Launch' on the 30th of this month, will be a half-assed affair, we learn, with possibly just a few choice cuts of the hotly-anticipated game on show and a few samples of the Radeon 9800XT. At best, we might end up with demo of Half Life 2 for benchmarking -- if we're lucky.

And we have now learned why ATI didn't name its new baby the Radeon 9900 PRO. The card simply does not perform fast enough to be called Radeon 9900 PRO so that's why Radeon 9800 got its XT appelation Ė- It's Xtremely T, we guess, not fast.

We can also guarantee you that ATI will focus on the new DirectX 9 benchmarks and its new weapons Half Life 2 and Tomb Raider AOD, as they know that Nvidia doesn't do Shader 2.0 as well as their hardware does.

Still, ATI have few samples but just a few that are clocked, as we said at 412MHz and 730MHz, but those are extremely rare birds. This clock details indicates that card is one of the first samples and this non-uniform frequency indicates that ATI still doesn't know its yields.

If you book hundreds of people for an event you cannot just say 'I don't have the hardware,' can you? The bummer is that Half Life 2 is not ready either and someone on the Web already let that slip. But you can't book the Cave in Munich and the prison on Alcatraz for nothing.

Anyhow, according to the original plans, the card should rock at 425 or more MHz and should be promised to be in the channels within two weeks from launch. Still, we simply donít see this happening. This semiconductor game sure seems a messed up business.
