    i use exclusively in games currently bf1942 secret weapons/desert combat/CWF enemy territory
    it makes a huge diff when i look to pick you off w/ my sniper rifle :shoot3:

    Not when the DDR2 doesn't overclock near as well as the DDR versions and can't keep up.

    FX5900 - 3DMark2001 [20,566] - 3DMark2003 [7,281] - Aquamark3 [56,694]
    Ti4400 - 3DMark2001 [16,028]

    If your textures can't fit in the video memory then oc the mem won't help.
    Speed can never replace room so to speak.

    As I mentioned this extra memory is only noticeable at really high res with todays most demanding games. The new DX9 titles we are waiting for can change this though..

    yet for some reason, the 256 version of the 9800 pro did not benefit..........while the fx 5900 256 did.........so until the 9800xt comes out, same core.........one wonders if even waiting for the r420 or nv40 would be best

    It's pretty much agreed that for current games 128MB is perfectly acceptable. However future graphic intensive titles like DOOM3 will take advantage of the additional 128MB that the larger cards have to offer.

    playing the alpha leak of doom 3 was a real eyeopener...........i could get 15 or so frames until there was action, then boom 3 to 7

    How much of a performance increase will the ATI Radeon 9600 XT offer over the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro??

    Actually yes it does......do you see any 256mb cards on top of the ORB? I didn't think so.
