ASUS (ATI) Roadmap confirms R420 (AGP) as Q1/2004 part. R423 (PCI-Express) version to follow Q2/2004?

    1. We don't know yet, but if its like going from 4x to 8x there won't be much difference. People can run 8x cards in 4x and not notice it.

    2. No

Actually, PCI-Exp. offers more of an advantage over AGP, when it comes to speed. PCI-Exp. will be a much less congested buss, thus giving more flexability to the graphics cards. Course, that, and the fact that given the right mobo, you could have multiple 16x graphics cards... :)

And why would you want multiple cards, only to have IRQ and driver conflicts.....

So, all the people who use modern agp cards and voodoo cards at the same time are all liars? They dont have conflicts....

really guys.. IRQ conflicts are (pretty much) a thing of the past. Windows and motherboards are very good about IRQ routing nowadays..

Dirvers.. same thing.. you have multiple modems, lan cards, even sound cards, all without worry. even graphics cards (like 4 pci ones AND an agp). there should be no reason for problems to pop up NOW..

Madcat, people still DO have problems with it, it is not a thing of the past. I have seen posts about it very recently.

Also you are talking about one PCI and one AGP card....new motherboards with PCI-Express will only have 1 16x slot for video cards.

The posts may have talked about it, but how many were actually right?

And i know that consumer boards may not ship with more than one 16x at first, but architectually, it is doable, and could be practicle....
