Why don't you post an updated graph....that one is really old and doesn't even have the fastest cards on it. :rolleyes2

My card easily beats that 9700 and isnt on the list.....

    FX5900 - 3DMark2001 [20,566] - 3DMark2003 [7,281] - Aquamark3 [56,694]
    Ti4400 - 3DMark2001 [16,028]

that graph showed all the relevant info for this thread. cards like the 9800 and 5900 were not even part of the discussion, so what difference does it make how well your card compares to a 9700.
I've gone too far and need to move on!

What's with the big confusion everyone seems to have with dx8 and dx8.1? Even the r7xxx series supports dx8 features like for example environment bump mapping. Dx8.1 features have nothing to do with dx8. And yes, those cards you listed are all full dx 8.1 with features like for example pixel shader 1.4, not dx8, which is one forgotten generation older.
info about dx versions 8 and older

And as for those mentioned cards. Stick with the ti4200,or r9000pro(stay away from non pro). Don't be bothered with budget versions of previous high end/faster cards.(r8500LE/r9200LEnon pro).
Also 128mb would probably serve you better in the long term.

Some fools get far to carried away by their own self importance but ppl who give bad info about things they obviously know nothin' about should be rewarded.
