Greetings, everything is runnin again after a major cleaning/overhaul/case cooling upgrade.
I have a chance at a gfx upgrade with $159cdn credit for my current card.(don't ask, they owe me)
This has to be done by tuesday at 8pm cst.
The major thing I need with the new one is vivo, and the store that may do this has nothing in ati with vivo except my current model, and other aiw ones higher than my pricerange. Basically I want to throw them like up to $100cdn+/-20 (preferably not that much) and my old card and walk away with a new card that has vivo.

Here are the choices: (in no peticular order)
    1. asus Geforce(v9480 tvd) ti4800se 128mb/tv out/8x agp/dual display/video in $219cdn.(goes back up to $250 after tues) asus link

    2. LEADTEK (A310 TD V10) GEFORCE FX 5600 / 8X AGP / 256MB DDR / DVI / TV OUT / VIDEO IN (RETAIL) $279.95cdn. leadtek link for both 128/256

    3. LEADTEK (A310 TD) GEFORCE FX 5600 / 8X AGP / 128MB DDR / DVI / TV OUT / VIDEO IN (RETAIL) $249.95cdn.

    4. MSI(MS-8912-11S) GEFORCE FX5600-VTDR / 128MB DDR / 8X AGP / TV OUT / VIDEO IN / DVI / REMOTE CONTROL UNIT (RETAIL) $254.95cdn. msi link

    5. LEADTEK (WIN FAST A280LE-TD) GEFORCE 4 Ti4200 / 128MB DDR / 8X AGP / TV OUT / VIDEO IN / DVI (RETAIL) $201.95cdn.(goes back up to $220 after tues) leadtek link for 4200

The things that are not important are 8x agp, dx9, 256mb(novelty for now anyway), and remote control(unless someone can think of a reason for this).
Another thing, I am quite happy with my current card and would not consider this upgrade without the $159cdn credit.
I am tending to lean towards the ti4200(for $42+tax). And have not heard much about the ti4800se. And a non oc'ing friend "upgraded" from a msi ti4200 64mb 4x agp to a leadtek fx5600 256mb 8x agp in the same 8x asus mobo and got a 1000+ drop with 3dmark 01.
    Any opinions will be great.

I've had n/p's with Leadtek hardware for over 3 years that I've been usin' their products but if DX9 support is a must the go for the FX5600 but if it ain't then go for the GF4 Ti4200.

I have been hearing things like this: originally posted by rythug
dont get the 5600! I have one and its slow compared to my ti 4200.
And reference to the asus ti4800se having 3.3ns mem.

Can anyone fill me in about this ti4800se? I have not seen any comparisons to the ti4200/4400/4600, where does this card rank among these?
Tom's hardware says this about the msi fx5600 card I refered to.

Basically the GF4 Ti4800SE is just an 8x AGP version of the GF4 Ti4400 (275/550).

Which, in ballpark figures, is how much better than a Ti4200?

Thanx for the quick response Wiggo.

I have looked around a bit and tom's hardware has some handy charts that I have trusted before. And since I have always been an ati man, I never payed as much attention to nvidia as I should have. But as I said this will only work if I switch to nvidia, due to this store not having ati with video in in my pricerange.
    link for tom's chart

According to my calculations and tom's chart, since I would only be using 4x agp anyway, the ti4400 seems to outperform the ti4200 by 9-10% on both test systems shown on 3d mark 01. Am I correct about my assumption? And will any/all of these cards work with my 4x mobo properly? The only one that said much about agp 2x/4x/8x was the asus ti4800se. And according to the same chart, the 8x does not do as much as everybody claims. Thats why I am not worried about 8x for now. But next mobo will most likely(maybe not) have it for all it's worth. I'm tending to steer towards the asus ti4800se for $17cdn more. Unless anyone has anything bad to say about it.

No 8xAGP doesn't add that much over 4xAGP but if ya can afford the bit extra for the Ti4800SE then get it.

Thanx Wiggo for your opinions. So it's settled then, I will get the asus ti4800se 128mb vivo for $67.32cdn after 14% tax + my old card. When I got my old card, the gf4 ti series was way out of my price range ($300-400+). And not many available here had vivo at the time. Now lots do.
