I currently have a 4x GeForce MX440 video card I took off my old computer and I want to know if it will be compatible with an A7N8X Deluxe mobo with and 8x AGP slot , because I notice that the AGP slot on the A7N8X Deluxe mobo is significantly larger than the slot on my old mobo, which is 4x. It will go in , but I'm afraid to turn it on not knowing whether or not its compatible.

That is because your board is fitted with an AGP Pro slot. According to the spec sheet, you'll need a 1.5v 8x AGP card to work. Strange... I had thought all the 8x boards were backward compatible with the 4x protocol.

it is bacckwards compatable. I have the A7N8X Dx and I'm running a 4x (non agp pro) card just fine. that MX440 should work just fine in it, although it seems a shame to put such a low quality card in a high quality mobo. There should be a bit of plastic in the end of the agp slot and it should stay there unless you upgrade to a card that can accomodate the extra space.

yea, your right, it is a shame to put such a garbage video card in the a7n8x deluxe. Ima just sell it on ebay and fork out some extra cash to get a new card. An ATI Radeon 9600XT sounds like a good choice for a budget video card.

That's good that the board will handle a 4x card. I thought it odd, but their spec sheet linked above only mentioned the Pro card and a 1.5v 8x.

odd, i don't know why it's worded like that  , but that's actually the wrong page. I think you were looking for this one: A7N8X Deluxe :)
