Thread: Maybe my ATI product is damaged somehow?

    I'm hopeless, :?
I bought an ATI Radeon 9800pro,
But this **** doesn't work good at all. I'm playing Counter-Strike and it doesn't show any high performance. Sometimes my computer restart himself (Don't know, maybe temp?). Of course I tweaked this game to work the best to rich an high FPS, upgraded to an AMD athlon XP 2200+ and Windows XP pro, checked all drivers and installed catatsyle omega.
I formated my computer over 4 times (Because I didn't know if I installed everything right. I thought it will help).
I assume my hardwere doesn't assemble well or my ATI product is damaged somehow.
Please guys tell me what to do/check/think/what ever :?: ... Before i'll go and rent a computer assistant that cost me alot.

Thanks and I'm sorry about my bad English. :D

Counter-Strike will never show high performance. Half-Life came out six years ago. It will run on a 32 MB video card and a Pentium about as well as it will an Athlon 64 and 9800XT.

Make sure you get your chipset drivers. Get drivers for everything but chipset are most important. Download CPU-Z here(< click) if you don't know what your chipset is. It is possible that the temperature is too high. Give more information on your cooling. It could be the processor that's causing restarts. Have you overclocked anything?

I am lookin at your post and the specs say xp2400. Is it oc'd? Use the 4.51 hyperion drivers for that chipset. Those omega drivers can cause strange issues sometimes, use ati's 4.4
Also about the crashing issue, are you trying to run that stuff with an old generic low wattage psu? Is it "athlon xp approved If so that would be 3 strikes against the psu. Is it "athlon xp approved"? Beware cheapies can say that on them(they lie all the time).
