I recently flashed my leadtek FX5900xt with an FX5950xt leadtek bios.

Core speed was 390mhz now 475mhz
mem speed was 700mhz now 950mhz

Ive noticed that when i clock the card to 475mhz after a few mins the card drops down to 300mhz for the core? i cant think why
Card runs cool and there are no artifacts. I am running on win98 with dx 8.1 and after the bios flash i noticed in display properties -> advanced that my agp rate had gone down from 8x to 4x.Does anyone know what could be wrong? Im using the latest forceware drivers and have tried the latest leadtek drivers both show agg 4x instead of 8x. My 3d mark 2001 was 11280 :-( was expecting higher than that-but the card was running at 300mhz instead of 475. Anyone know why the speed keeps dropping and why agp4 instead of 8x now?

    thankyou

Might I ask why your still using DX8.1? That card does support DX9 atleast a bit. Im not sure if that effects your 3Dmark2001 scores, but it may affect some game performance. Try the upgrade and see, unless you have had other problems in the past.

    :?

The anwser is that when you are in 2D the card clock lowers itself to 300Mhz. But when it 3D it will go back up to normal speeds. Nothing to be worried about, completly normal

i know what the 2d and 3d mode does- its set on 3d mode and sais core 475 mem 950-normall and what its meant 2 be - but all other programs- benchmarkin programs etc say the clock is still at 300mhz( the 2d mode clock level for the core)
