Default ATI 9800PRO 128MB: Really Bad Things Are Happening

I just switched cases and reinstalled the CPU cooler to reduce temps in my computer. However when I took my 9800 out the heatsink was loose. This didn't scare me, I just cleaned the heatsink and core with some 70% Alcohol (yeah I know it aint 99%) and applied some Antec Formula 5 Silver Compound (yeah, they don't sell Artic Silver in Albuquerque, unless you look really hard). All was well but when I pressed the power button nothign happened. Well I quickly figured out that I switched the reset with the power cable, so I pressed reset and it started right up. Windows loaded perfect everything looked great. Case temp down 5C, CPU temp down 7C. So I start 3DMark05, because last time it crashed due to the CPU overheating (throttled to 25%). Boom, half the screen severly distorted, I ALT-F4 immediately. I try the CS:Source GFX test as well. Screen covered in squares and all the objects are replaced with "ERROR". I gotta go to class, please help.....I'll be back soon.

It means you're screwed. Send the radeon in for another one. Or you might try changing the hsf

Either you have severe heat issues with it and need to reapply the thermal compound and HSF, you did something wrong when intslling drivers, or the card is damaged. I'd bet on the latter.

They don't sell AS5? Buy online... It's cheaper 99% of the time anyway.

I did everything perfect HSF is fine so are drivers. I got the card in January, so its under warranty. So do I call or something to RMA it? I still have the original Fed-Ex box with the papers....

Don't bother to find out whats wrong with it, just RMA it while you still can.
