The FW 81.98 drivers allow you to mix 2 different brand names, both cards still have to have the same stock core speed, (eg - xfx = 450, sparkle = 400, BFG = 425).

The second 1 would run at the same speed as the first card.... i dun knw if u guyz got me but yeh...like i said i read it somwhere, could b this site but it was a pretty reliable source, may b tomshardware.com

That only happens with ATi Crossfire and mis-matched cards. An extreme example, you have a x300 on a Crossfire board, and add a x850PE, the x850PE will be slowed down to match the x300.

No they don't. You can mix and match any core speed and memory size. They just have to be the same core. My EVGA has a 450MHz core speed and my BFG OC has a core speed of 460. The cards will only run as fast as the slowest card. Same with memory. If you have a 128MB card and a 256MB card, the 256MB card will cut half of its' memory to run equal to the 128MB card.

the core speed does not matter. They just have to be manufactured with the same core. Any brand 7800GTX can be put in SLI with any other brand 7800GTX even if the core speeds are different. Take my cards. The EVGA has a core speed of 450MHz and memory speed of 1200MHz. The BFG OC card has a core speed of 460MHz and memory speed of 1300MHz. What happens is the drivers limit the faster card to run the same speed of the slower card. The same would be true of two different 6600GT's or two different 6800GT's, etc... But you cannot run a 6600 with a 6800 and so on and so on.
