get a 6800GS if you plan on running SLI, get a 7800GT if you plan on running a single card.

    2 6800GS' or 1 7800GT?

    I'd get the 7800GT.

Wow it's been like a year since I was here but oh well. The 7800gt is the better card, but Nvidia is releasing a new line called the 7900gt and gtx's you could of waited but oh well.. The 7800gt is the better card, but an overclocked 6800gs can match it. Also you need to consider getting more ram as 512mb is barly cutting it. You should get at least 1 gig.

eh? do you mean 2 GSs? one isnt anywhere near the 7800gt.
oh yeah, and definately get more ram- you will wonder how you did without it if you get another 512.

Not sure But I do think one maxed out in overclock, is near enough the performance of a stock 7800gt.

ball*cks! a gt has 4 more pipelines, and youd have to sub-zero a gs before it would beat the gt.

I wouldn't say that, and in SLI, 2 GS's will solidly thump a GTX. The GS is an overclocking monster and it will come within a close margin of the 7800GT when the GS is fully overclocked. The 7800GT is definitely a faster card than the 6800GS, but to be honest, I have never been impressed with the GT, and everyone needs to stop thinking that just because there are more pixelpipes that the card is so much faster. Still depends on the core/memory speeds. And besides, the GT has 8 more pipelines than a GS. But the 7800 core does not overclock as well as the 6800GS. You must also remember that the PCI-E version of the GS is a different core than any other 6800 series card. If you are going to spend the money on a GT, save the extra few dollars and get a GTX.
