Thread: 6600gt SLI problem

    Default 6600gt SLI problem

I have 2 BFG 6600gt 128mb cards. Both cards work fine on their own but when I try to run them in SLI the Nvidia Control panels tells me that i must remove any cards that are not compatible with SLI before I can enable it. I have updated all the video and chipset drivers as well as the motherboard bios. The really strange thing is that when I run it with the "old card" in the top slot and the "new card" in the bottom slot i get the above message. But when i have them switched i don't get a message about SLI at all. But under the nvidia control panel it shows 2 6600gt marked number one and two, bot which have their own settings. I have a 420w OCZ power supply with more than the required amps on the 12v. My motherboard is a Gigabyte K8N-SLI. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What drivers are you running? I always had the best results with 81.98's with my 6x00 cards.

    AMD FX8120 @ 4GHz
    Patriot 1866MHz EL series 2X4GB DDR3
    Powercolour HD 6970 2GB w/XFX 8800GT 512MB Hybrid PhysX
Creative X-FI titanium HD w/Technics class A 300W amp and tower speakers
    PC P&C 500W PSU
    2TB Seagate
Coolermaster 690II w/Corsair H100 tucked under the hood

I was running the 84.21 drivers but when they didn't work I decided to try the 91.28 beta drivers. I will try the older drivers to see if they work. However I have the feeling that the problem may be more than just the video drivers. Thanks.
