I'm stumped over what video card to get. Read many reviews about ATI and NVIDIA cards. Most say it depends what game ur playing. Any suggestions?

    2 GB DDR2 800 Kingston Valueram
    250GB Seagate Barracuda
    500W Powersupply
    Generic ATX case
    Winfast PCI-E DTV
    Philips Aurilium external soundcard
    LG dual layer DVD-writer
    24" LG HD LCD monitor
    Logitech Z5500D

    Software: Windows XP

The HD4870 is going to be the best possible card for your hard earned money to make your system perform like a dream in games. It will happily and lovingly play at 1920X1200 all day long, even Crysis. If you have the cash the 4870X2 is the best possible card for 24" and larger screens, but the normal HD4870 is not to be overlooked. I just got one and love it to death.

Yeah i was looking at 4870 or 9800GTX as well. I'm also worried about cooling and power supply. Looking at the reviews, it seems these cards heat up pretty fast, and i'm worried if it'll melt down my motherboard and other stuff in there. Any advise?

The 4870 is far superior to the 9800. Only the GTX260 is a competitor to the HD4870 and the 4870 is still faster and better.

You should have a good quality 500W+ power supply for hte 4870, but heat is not an issue. All you have to do is a simple soft-mod to the 4870 to turn the fan up to 30% or so and it will run cool and quiet too.

Im hoping to buy a vga card nd i have selected several cards..but it is difficut to select one...
Here are the cards i have chosen

    asus en9800gt 512mb 128sp's - 725 core clock - 2ghz memory clock
    asus en8800gt 512mb 112 sp's - 600 core clock - 1.8ghz memory clock
    asus en9600gt Top 512mb 64 sp's - 720 core clock - 2ghz memory clock

the 9600gt top has low sp's but high clock speeds...
is it better than the 9800gt or the 8800gt?
