    Default 3rd Party OC software

Hello folks! I have a Gigabyte HD5850 GPU. I want to monitor temps and maybe OC this. Other than ATI's CCC, I've been reading a lot about MSI's Afterburner and EVGA's Precision. Is it okay to use this on my Gigabyte GPU? What are the pros and cons?

    Thanks!

Hmm, maybe this Gigabyte 5870 SOC one would work too? Plain GUI though, looks like The top one in this image, not sure where to find that final finished one though?

I doubt you can change voltage with it, but clocks you probably can. I think they are all about the same really, just different GUI's is all.

Really helpful! I tried using the HUD Lite from Gigabyte's site, but it wouldn't work on my 5850. I'll try the 5850 SOCTuner when I get back home. Thanks, Lsdmeasap!

Yup, installed Afterburner a few days ago and I use it to monitor my GPU temps and FPS. The HUD Lite from Gigabyte doesn't work yet, though...

I can change the clock, but not the voltages in Afterburner.

I tried the 5870 SOC utility you linked to, it detected my 5850 voltages and had the option to change them. I didn't try them though as I'm a bit nervous to do so...also, I think I need to upgrade my CPU first before really OCing my GPU :(

    Ahh!

Give them a small bump just to see if it applies them and then shut down the program and re-open it to verify they settings were applied or not. Would be nice to know if that works for 5850, and what all sliders do in fact work for 5850.

No need to really overclock it if you don't want to just test them all a little bit

Hmmm....I'll give it a try soon, Lsd! I'm just nervous about my card having no expressed warranty :(

Ahh, well one notch on anything wont hurt anything at all! Now pushing 10+ notches yes, I would understand that.

It's no biggie, if you don't want to test that is cool with me! I just thought I'd have you check since we were discussing this, for anyone who might ask in the future
